vegan phishwitch ReVamp 2.0

We’ve done it again... introducing our revamp of the vegan Phishwitch patty 2.0!! Mixed vegetable cutlet, dunked in our house-made beer batter and fried to crispy flaky perfection, topped with coleslaw and arugula, atop a bed of our delicious caper-dill tartar sauce and pickle slices, with just a teensie spread of Dijon!

Back in January, the Dijon Porcini Cutlet we used for many years was discontinued, so we toiled over finding and making a replacement. We found an awesome vegan vegetable cutlet that we were battering and rolling in a spicy seasoned panko that we have been serving for the past few months. However, we were not completely satisfied with that outcome, and I know some of avid phishwitch-of-past fans were still missing that porcini party even with the new replacement.

So.... here we go again! Come on by and give it a try and tell us what you think!! We believe we’ve found “the one”!! Looking forward to your feedback!

New vegan chicken debuts tonight

Tonight we are debuting a new type of vegan chicken tender!! Introducing Rebellyous Foods plant-based vegan tenders, served with Oak’s famous house-made bourbon BBQ sauce!

Just to catch y’all up— over the past several years, we have used Fieldroast’s lentil-sage loaves to make vegan tenders. We loved this product as we know many of you have, but sadly it has been permanently discontinued.

While we are sad for the loss of a great product and menu item, we are absolutely stoked on these Rebellyous tenders! They will be served atop our vegan kale Caesar salad and available to order a la carte in a basket. Swing by, try them out, let us know what you think!

Oak to stay closed foR the remainder of the day Sunday, 2/14

The polls are in, not enough of our staff can find a safe way to get to Oak to open for dinner service. Sorry, friends! We gave it a grade-A effort, but safety is always the most important factor!

If you are looking for a Valentine’s Day gift for your sweetheart, we do sell e-gift cards on our website, oak-seattle.com, and you can present them with a raincheck (...or rather, snowcheck...😬) date night at Oak later this week or next weekend! ☺️

So all the sweeties that were planning on spending their Valentine date night at Oak... so sorry we couldn’t be there for you... we tried!! Hopefully you can still make the most of a snowy day and come visit us soon! 🥰💕

consideriNg the snowy weekend to come…

It may be chilly out, with threats of a snowstorm, but we’re still here and open for you this brisk Friday evening! If the snow does get out of control, and our staff is not able to safely make it work, we will be posting any updates of closure on Instagram, Facebook, and our website! That’s a big “if” though... as for now, we are planning on being open! Bring your cozy gear and a blanket and huddle up at one of our tables under a heat lamp with your favorite beverage!

Remodeled Phishwitch

For several years, Oak has offered a much-loved sandwich called “the Vegan Phishwitch”. Until recently, the sandwich featured Fieldroast’s Porcini-Dijon cutlet. Sadly, that product was discontinued. After much sourcing and testing and trial sandwiches, we have finally came up with a viable replacement. The new Phishwitch features a mixed vegetable cutlet that we dunk in our house-made tempura batter, then roll in seasoned panko before frying it to crispy perfection. The sandwich also includes our insanely delicious house-made vegan caper-dill tartar sauce, a light spread of Dijon mustard, coleslaw, and arugula. YUMMO!

If you are one of the long-standing fans of the Phishwitch, please let us know how you like the new patty!!

Re-open date sligHtly delayed!

Hello! Here’s a little PSA concerning our re-opening. It has been delayed for one week, so we have a new open date of FRIDAY, JANUARY 8th!!! Turns out, it’s a real challenge to try and reopen a restaurant during the biggest holiday break of the year.. 🥴🤪 Sorry to cause any disappointment, but maybe we just extended your holiday vibes for an extra week with something fun to look forward to?!?! Almost there!!! Can’t wait to see y’all! 🥰🥰🥰

tEmpOrary break starting end of Friday, November 20th

Oak has decided to take a sabbatical for the next few weeks in order to do our part in flattening the curve, allowing our staff to stay safe and healthy as well. We will be reopening on Friday, January 1st, 2021! Please follow us on Instagram or Facebook, or check this news column for any updates we may post!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the love and support you have shown Oak in this crazy challenging year, especially our beloved regulars. We will miss you very much, but not to worry, January 1st will be here in the blink of an eye. Until then, stay safe and stay healthy!!

Minimal indoor space now available for dining

Hello, friends! Oak is now (very cautiously) allowing a few folks to dine indoors. Even with our investment in awnings and heat lamps to maintain outdoor dining, it has become apparent that the cold still chases away a lot of customers, and Oak will not survive this cruel winter if we do not allow people inside. That being said, we are doing this the SAFEST way possible. Tables will be minimal, isolated by barriers or well beyond 6 feet apart. Medical-grade Air Purifiers with a CADR rating of 300 designed for extra large rooms are placed in between all tables. Our mask rules are stringent - guests must be wearing a mask at all times unless actively consuming food or drink. We want to keep our guests and staff safe and healthy! We have very much appreciated those who visited us over the weekend in our soft opening of indoor dining and were SO GREAT about keeping that mask on and being respectful to our staff. Thank you for that, friends!! Hope you can find time to visit us soon! Indoor and outdoor tables are available for reserving at oak-seattle.com 🤗 #staysafe

🐝

Greetings friends! Just to 🐝 transparent - we do use pure honey in our honey butter that comes along in the chicken dinner family meal special. There is a gray area for vegans when it comes to honey... Oak has several vegan friends that do allow for honey in their diets, but on the flip side, we also have many vegan friends who do not eat honey. If you are a vegan who does not consume honey, just let us know in the special request box when you order online that you would like Earth Balance vegan butter instead and we will happily oblige! 🐝❤️

Snack attack? Here’s a suggestion!

Eat your veggies! If you traditionally push your green string beans to the side on your plate... don’t write them off completely until you’ve tried them like this! Battered Deep Fried Green Beans— all of a sudden the side plate is the star of the show!

Closed for employee appreciation on july 4th

Hi folks! Traditionally, Oak closes on the 4th of July for our annual employee appreciation party. Sadly, the state of things will not allow for us to do our usual day-long extravaganza of party bus rides, beverages, food, and bowling. Even though Oak cannot party down like the previous years, we are still going to be closed, so that Oak’s employees can have an extra appreciation day off to relax! It’s been a LOT of hard work getting Oak ready for dine-in guests, and the staff deserves it! We will be here for you on Sunday morning at 9am, however, ready to make you a bomb brunch complete with some delicious brunch cocktails! To ensure yourself a place at one of our tables for dine-in brunch, make yourself a reservation at oak-seattle.com!

Doing our best to make your phase2 dine-in experience comfortable!

Oak has gone above and beyond to make our dining space safe for folks to visit and feel comfortable. In a time when revenue is at an all time low for most (if not all) restaurants, it is difficult to squirrel away funds for renovations that we deem necessary to make our guests feel safe and taken care of.... but because it is SO important, we are attempting to make it happen! This includes touchless soap dispensers, touchless paper towel dispensers, touchless water faucets, hand sanitizer stations throughout the restaurant, plexiglass and plant screens, and fans/AC units to keep air fresh and circulating. We would love to hear feedback on what makes you feel comfortable in a public dining experience in current times! #dinein #phase2 #washyourhands
